WWF celebrates 25 years of practical solutions to major Queensland environmental problems
14 Nov 2003
Deni Hines and Kerrie Friend will be among a host of VIPs celebrating WWF-Australia's 25th birthday on Friday 28 November at Dreamworld.
For 25 years WWF has been working with local communities, national, state and local governments, to provide practical, viable solutions to major environmental problems.
The evening will include dinner, dancing and an auction. WWF will be auctioning original artwork, limited edition stamps, and the naming rights to a star. "WWF works really hard to save endangered species and habitats all over Queensland," says Noel Ainsworth, Regional Manager-North. "With the money our supporters help us raise at our birthday party, we'll be able to help species from cassowaries to turtles; support farmers in their efforts to conserve wetlands; and continue our important work with traditional owners in protecting wetland wildlife in the Nabine catchment in southern Queensland."
Door prizes include a trip for two to Vanuatu, Dreamworld family passes, limited edition wildlife prints and specially produced limited-edition stamps. The Caribbean Kings will rock the night away with their unique fusion of calypso, reggae, latin and funk styles.
Tickets to the dinner, dance and auction are available to the public, and cost $75. They are available from WWF in Brisbane by calling Sonya Lesic on 07-3839 4372. Proceeds will go to help WWF continue their work in QLD.
Vanessa Amorosi sent her good wishes: "To all my friends at WWF, congratulations on the 25th anniversary. I'm sorry I couldn't be with you for the party. Thank you for all the work you are doing... I wish you continued success. Lots of love, Vanessa Amorosi".
DENI HINES and KERRIE FRIEND will be available for comments and photo opportunities from 6pm, at Tiger Island, Dreamworld, on Friday 28 November... and look out for a special MYSTERY CELEBRITY GUEST!
Other photo opportunities during the event include VIPs being introduced to some of Dreamworld's special residents, including native animals and a tiger.
