In 2015, an intense bush fire burnt through a 98,000 ha area near Northcliffe in southwest Western Australia – an area that was known to support more than 500 quokkas. Post the fires, WWF-Australia in-conjunction with the WA Department of Parks and Wildlife conducted a survey to discover the impact of this event on the quokka population.
