RSS feeds for WWF-Australia

What feeds are available?

WWF-Australia currently provides a number of RSS 2.0 feeds throughout the site. Whenever you see this icon at the bottom of a page, an RSS feed is available for that page. Some of the main RSS feeds are listed below:

What is RSS?

The BBC provides a very good description of RSS: "RSS is an easy way for you to keep updated automatically on websites you like. Instead of you having to go to websites to see if they've written a new article or feature, you can use RSS (which stands for Really Simple Syndication) to get them to tell you every time they have something new."

How do I use RSS?

RSS is mostly used by computer programs known as 'news readers'. These programs allow you to view the information from many different RSS feeds. If you don't already have a news reader you will have to download or purchase one. There are many free news readers available on the internet. In fact some web browsers (such as Firefox) and email programs (such as Thunderbird) have news readers built in. The table below provides links to some news readers.

How do I subscribe to your podcast feed?

You can subscribe to podcasts in a number of different podcast software programs, but iTunes is probably the most popular.

WWF-Australia's podcasts are available on the iTunes Music Store. If that link doesn't work for you, or you are using podcast software other than iTunes, you can subscribe manually by following these steps:

  1. Copy this link (by right-clicking or control-clicking on it and choosing "Copy link" or similar)
  2. Open iTunes (4.9 or later) or your podcast software
  3. For iTunes, choose "Advanced > Subscribe to Podcast..." from the menu at the top of the screen. For other podcast software, choose the add subscription option.
  4. Past the link into the box that appears
  5. Click the "OK" button

The BBC has a good guide about subscribing to podcasts in iTunes and other podcast-capable software.

Do I need an iPod to listen/view podcasts?

No. Podcasts can be played on a number of portable music and video players.

Can I use information from WWF-Australia's RSS feeds for other purposes?

Yes you can. The information (web pages and RSS feeds) on this site is provided under a creative commons license. Images, PDFs and other content is subject to different license conditions.
