Phil Freeman

National Communications Manager

My parents introduced me to the great Aussie outdoors. Some of my best memories growing up are of family bushwalks and beach trips. It’s probably what led me to work in the field that I do.

At WWF, I bring together my two areas of formal education – environmental law and visual arts – to lead a fantastic team of communicators and campaigners. We work on everything from news media and online campaigning through to thought leadership and social media. I love it that I get to use both the left and right sides of my brain.

I had previously worked with not-for-profit organisations in East Timor and Sri Lanka. There were massive social and environmental challenges. When I got back home to Australia I was fired up. I could see the potential for this country to be a leader in environmental and climate change solutions.

Now I have two young kids and can’t wait to share with them some of the places I love.
